Global Conquest
Great game. I was seriously addicted to this one in the early 1990s. Hours of fun. Adjust the board size to fit how long you want the game. There are half hour games and ways to play it against opponents, although I never did that. The huge board game with maximum resources is the most fun, but that can be a five hour game. Watch it if you have time commitments, because you can start this game and then while you think 10 minutes have passed it is really three hours. I quit when I noticed the sun rising when I started one game at midnight.

From Brian Moriarty's tribute to Dani Bunten: "[Command HQ's successor, 1992s Global Conquest, was the first four-player network game released by a major publisher. Its absorbing mix of real-time action and resource development was the design prototype for an entire generation of combat simulations, including Dune II, Warcraftand Command and Conquer." The game would sadly turn out to be Dani Bunten's last game she designed, before moving on to Mpath to create multiplayer-only games.
