Set adrift on memory bliss

Playing out like a more straightforward take on the classic point-and-click adventure format as seen in Myst, this is a fine hidden object game which makes for an entertaining and relaxing time. It's based on the famous story of shipwreck and adventure and makes good use of the license, turning the story into an enjoyable interactive romp. The game follows the plot of the book fairly closely, finding the player in the role of the legendary castaway and presenting them with a number of hidden object scenes, where you must find the specified items in the time limit. Completing more scenes allows you to upgrade your boat and take one step closer to freedom. As well as the hidden object scenes, there are also other puzzles, like jigsaws, as well as those which require logic and lateral thinking skills, and this gives the game some nice extra variety. The hidden object scenes are given extra complexity by the occasional requirement to perform two steps in order to locate an item while there's also a hint system if you get stuck. If you're into hidden object games, this is quite a decent example of the genre. It's more traditional than other games which deal more in the fantastic, but this isn't a problem and only adds to the appeal. The story is used well as a basis for the puzzles, which are generally well done, being varied, challenging and satisfying to solve. The visuals are quite lush, with some nice environments and plenty of detail to attract the eye, and overall this makes a good choice for the genre fan.
