Relatively solid oldie pool sim, pretty well done graphically
This game showcases the developments of SVGA graphics and the effects that this new standard had on pool games. So, if you were to have played a Pool games of the very early 90s or early 80s you'd see a lot more jaggedness and a lot less real estate, pixel wise, for the pool table to lavish within! Archer MacLean's Pool is like the mid-level graphical game, between the games that will start to actually offer you solid 3D gaming and this late 80s era, where jaggedness and few pixels had to be squeezed really hard to create a palatable game. Otherwise, Archer MacLean's Pool plays well; the physics are as accurate as the graphics would allow. There's still a bit of that fine tweaking of the cue ball even in absence of seeing any changes in your aiding line, but not as much as was needed in, say, Sharkey's Pool. Also, while a tridimensional bird's eye view of the table is included, it's not really too great for accuracy, so you're better playing from a top down 2D perspective. But, at any rate, Archer MacLean's Pool plays well and is fun enough.
