Who is the Arkham Knight?
Arkham Knight might not deviate too much from the template laid down by the previous games in the Arkham series, but it sure as heck gets everything right, making it a fitting end to a cracking series. It is pretty much the same formula as the other three games but everything here is just bigger, bolder and ultimately better than before and it's really a must play for fans of the series and of the titular hero. Storywise, this is set a year after Arkham City and kicks off with Scarecrow threatening to force an evacuation by releasing a deadly toxin into the air. Things soon spiral out of control with the appearance of a number of familiar foes, plus the addition of the mysterious Arkham Knight, who wears a military-style Batsuit. The gameplay is the same as usual for the series, plus a few new elements. Most of the time, you'll be exploring the city as the Caped Crusader, engaging in brutal free-flow combat with the bad guys while solving environmental puzzles and completing sidequests. New elements include the ability to drive Batmobile and the appearance of allies such as Robin and Catwoman to fight alongside. Although the Windows version of this game was originally riddled with bugs and game-breaking issues, there's no denying it's an absolute corker of an experience now. The combat is as satisfying as ever, the visuals absolutely stunning, and the story a wonderfully tight and compelling piece of narrative. The new elements are fairly small but they do help this from feeling too stale and overall, this is wonderful superhero adventure.
