A Good Beginning
I have praised Sid Meier for some great games that he released, one of them, Sim Golf, being my personal favorite. Lately, I have been playing Civilization 5 and Civilization 4 a lot and I was curios how the series started. I searched high and low, until I found the very first Civilization game. I have prepared my DosBox, started the game, played a bit and was satisfied. Now I now that I may say that this game isn't as good as the latest ones, but I will talk about this game, as if have played the other ones.First of all, I love the intro video that is given to us. It tells about the creation of the world to the point where civilizations have been made. After that, you have to choose your difficulty level, the number of total players, the civilization you want to play as and choosing the name of your leader. Fortunately, there are in-game tutorials that will you out during gameplay because it is not a simple game. Basically, you started building your capital, starting some troops, explore the unknown, expand your empire and so on. I really love the animations of when founding a new city. It's neat to see how the city is founded. When you meet new tribes(or civilizations) they offer you a change of knowledge, a change to live in peace etc. There is no story or campaign in the game, it's more or like a skirmish game, but a very long one, which is kind of fun. There are a lot of things to keep you entertained and busy. All in all, Civilization is worth adding it in your game collections, along with the latest ones.
