I really need to take a break from RTS games that are released recently. It's not because I hate them, it's because I sometimes need to try something else, to play something different because for me variety is what matters. When it comes down to this, I usually go back to playing the Command & Conquer series. Westwood Studios really have made a great job on the series and I feel so sad that the series had ended, but it's better this way because you cannot continue to make games for the same series. Who knows? Maybe the developers will bring us an even better series of RTS games. While most fans are familiar with Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2 from the series, I have decided to try out the very first game in the series. While it may not be as good as the later installments, the first C&C game was oustanting for its time. The gameplay is familiar like in the newer installments, but with some drawbacks, like being restricted to queue only one unit for training. It might not be so bad for its time, but it is a drawback for today, especially if you familiar with the later installments. The game also offers a good introduction to the GDI-NOD war. The graphics aren't that impressive but aren't even bad and the sounds are okay. Overall, any fan of the C&C series might consider at least trying out this game.
