Although it's not very well known and lacks anything approaching originality, Dark Sector is actually a pretty solid bet for any action lover looking for their next kick. You've seen just about everything the game has to offer before but there's something about which means it's a hugely entertaining and thrill-packed ride. You play the part of Hayden Tenno, a hardcore black-ops agent who's sent into a tiny country where there just happens to be a viral threat which is turning people into zombies. You're tasked with taking out the virus's creator but when you track him down, you end up being infected yourself but handily enough, you also gain some cool powers, like turning invisible, the ability to create shields and even giving you access to a slick glaive weapon. What follows is a fairly standard action/shooter affair, which generally involves brutally killing lots of nasty mutant and other enemies with your array of weapons and skills in third-person perspective. Dark Sector's weakest point is probably its narrative which is bog standard stuff and not all that compelling but if you don't really care about that sort of thing, you're in for a good time. Again, although you've seen the core gameplay before, it's been executed very well here and there's no denying the game oozes style from every pore. The visuals are slick and very flashy while the action comes at you hard and fast, never letting up until the end. It's not a classic but if you enjoy Gears of War or Dead Space, it's definitely worth a look.
