Lots of details, yet cumbersome to control and lacking AI
Decision at Gettysburg is a wargame that tried to put too much detail in your lap, and while the logistics portion and the detailed maps and the true to the actual events strategies are welcomed, less so is the ineffective way in which they've been produced and combined. Thus, it is very hard to control, and a game that doesn't allow you to focus. The hard to control part, is not only because the game is spread towards too many portions; it's also, very practically so, a question of poor implementation of the controls and just as poor and ineffective use of the AI. So, even if the elements are there, and seem to work towards a feature complete game, they just get in the way of one another. At the very least, the AI is dumb enough so that it won't put too much pressure on you. But, on the other hand, Decision at Gettysburg is just not satisfying to play, and thus, for all intents and purposes very boring. Download Sid Meier's Gettysburg! for a recreation of those historical battles, a game that is both well produced and also well balanced, for increased playability.
