Dime City

Adult 1995 Dos Dosbox Cyberdyne Systems Role playing

Good natured gangster sim

In true Legal Crime style, Dime City shows players what it's like on the wrong side of the law, by placing players in the shoes of a rising gangster boss who is keen to prove that crime really does pay. It's a humorous take on the business sim, much less serious minded than the likes of Capitalism 2, but it's not lacking in detail or strategy, so it's well worth a look if you're after something unusual. In the town of Dime City, you take on the role of a gangster with big ambitions and who will do anything to achieve his goal of becoming governor and Godfather to his beloved home. Of course, the way you do this is pretty much up to you, with a multitude of options open to you to raise the necessary funds, with everything from bank raids to blackmailing corrupt politicians available to you. Of course, you're not going to have everything your way, so there are rivals out trying to achieve the same thing and who are prone to launching sudden attacks on your growing empire and which are dealt with in the form of mini action games and which help to add in some variety to proceedings. Visually, the game is a treat, with nicely animated graphics that lend the game a great sense of personality, with its outlandish, over-the-top characters and environments that really leap off the screen. Don't let this cartoon-like appearance fool you though as this isn't really a game for kids. For older players in the right frame of mind though, this is an enjoyable experience that, while far from perfect, provides plenty of good natured fun and marries it with a solid slice of strategy gaming.

Adventure with a strategic and managerial spin

In Dime City you are going to play mainly as in a classic adventure, however, to add more depth to the game, a strategic/managerial layer has been added. This tackles the relationships of your character in the local mafia of Dime City, a cartoonish small metropolis in which you're looking for total dominance. The game is stunning graphically, however, for most casual players the graphics and the style of the drawings will feel a little too pulp, a little too cheesy and cheap. But, if you consider the gangster story which doesn't take itself too seriously, the graphic style fits just fine within the game. One other aspect that is interesting is the particular scenes/content. Yap, cartoonish as it may be, this is no game for little children, so take this into account when downloading the game.

German speaking game

Dime City is a game where you have control over a mafia family and try to do business. You're the head of an important mafia family and try to do some businesses. The interface of the game is a house with 3 floors and some doors, some of which lead to some minigames, like a mini-dating sim game, where your need to fill a thermometer all the way up, something similar like in the latest Leisure Suit Larry game. The graphics are great and the voice, while I'm not familiar at all with German, I found it to be quite good.
