Top class experience
Taking its inspiration from classic arcade action/platformers like Castlevania and Metroid, this is another fine effort that is perfect for fans of Apotheon. It's got plenty of action and exploration as well as some charming visuals, and makes for an all round cracking experience. The main character is Dust, a fox-like creature, who one day wakes up in the forest and meets his two friends, a talking sword and a kind of fairy. However, Dust is suffering from amnesia and so must travel through the extensive world to discover his memories and to find out what play he plays in the grand scheme of things. What follows is an epic adventure through a sizable 2D world that consists of many interconnected areas, all of which can be freely explored. As Dust, you have access to a range of abilities which come in handy as you venture forth, while you also need to make use of your chums to. The focus here is more on combat than platforming, while there are RPG-style elements to consider, with upgrades, sidequests and crafting all implemented well. Dust really is an absolute delight from start to finish. The visuals are absolutely lovely, with some lush environmental and character design, and plenty of great cutscences to move the story along. The gameplay itself is tightly crafted, with plenty of freedom and some well handled combat which is challenging and enjoyable. The story is captivating, with some memorable characters to meet so overall, if you're looking for a good time, you can't really go wrong with this.
