Animal-based colouring in fun
It's time to break out the electronic colouring pencils in another entry in the long-running and popular Electric Crayon series and which makes for a nice alternative to Wild Learning Safari. As you might expect from the title, this one takes prospective computer artists on a trip to an electronic zoo, where they get to encounter and colour in a range of favourite zoo animals, from gorillas to elephants and everything in between. There's a range of colour options on offer here, so you don't have to stick to boring colour schemes and you can really let you imagination run riot and come up with all sorts of inventive patterns to make your animals stand out. To back up the game's credentials as edutainment, each animal comes with a descriptive element, allowing kids to learn about the beasts as they colour them in and hopefully inspiring them to move on to move advanced material in the future and create the conservationists of the future. There's also a variety of options for customising your pictures, with things like calenders, descriptions, messages and banners all capable of being added in at your leisure. As far as electronic colouring books go, At the Zoo is decent stuff. Perhaps the most important element, the control system, is fortunately simple and intuitive, well enough implemented that even the absolute beginner will pick it up and start creating a masterpiece in almost in time at all. The game is slightly limited, offering as it does little more than colouring in, but if that's what you're looking for, this is a good bet.
