To Victory

How many of you always dream to become an emperor of a nation, brewing a fearsome army and sending it around the globe, conquering every inch of it? While the Civilization series does this very well, Empire is a game that is almost identical. I don't know if this is a predecessor to games like Total War, but it somehow feels like it. In Empire, you start with a city where you produce military units and your only goal is to conquer other empires. One thing that I did not like about this game, is that you don't manage your resources like in any other RTS or TBS games. You just select what unit your cities need to build and wait for them to be built. However, whenever a new unit is built, you can give that unit a name, which is a nice feature. Naming your regiments and ships should be a feature in many other strategy games, because, let's face it, who doesn't naming his own army? Another good feature I have found in this game is a map editor, where you can edit or create a new map. The graphics are nice for DOS standards, but sometimes the sound gets too loud and your forced to turn down the volume. In conclusion, anyone new to any RTS game should try Empire out because it is a good start for anybody into the RTS or TBS genre.
