The Goat Escape
The original Escape Goat was a delightfully bonkers little platform/puzzler that was something of a breath of fresh air. This one follows closely in its predecessor's footsteps but adds enough to the formula to make it well worth picking up whether you're a newcomer to the series or an old hand. The game finds you in control of a goat who has to escape from the Stronghold of Torago and which basically involves making your way through an epic series of traps and puzzles. The puzzles are a mix of lateral thinking, manipulation and other similar such concepts and which also require some nifty reflexes in order to complete. A new addition here is a little mouse helper who can crawl to places you can't reach in order to hit switches, distract enemies and other such things and without the little guy, you're not going anywhere. The whole thing is played out in 2D with some lovely hand drawn art work that really brings the game to life. If you are looking for a good natured puzzler to lose some time with, then this really has to be top of the list. The concept is immensely compelling and the whole thing is told with such a great sense of humor and lack of seriousness that you can't help but smile as you play. The visuals are lovely, with some cracking character work and lovely environments that make exploring a joy. The music too is great, really adding to the atmosphere, while the puzzles are clever, inventive and immensely satisfying to solve. All in all, a wonderful little game that is well worth your time.
