Where's Steve McQueen when you need him?

This bizarre little game is the work of Team 17, best known for Worms, and mashes up the indie hit The Escapists with the juggernaut that is Walking Dead to create a zombified version of the classic Great Escape. The original Escapists was a light-hearted take on prison life that played out like a puzzler where the goal was to sneak out from under the eyes of the guards and this version updates it to include many of the elements which made the comic books and TV show so popular. Here, you find yourself in control of Rick Grimes who is in charge of a group of survivors and it's your job to lead the survivors to safety through various areas populated with zombies. You need ti find a safe route, while also taking into account several other elements in order to keep as many people alive as possible. The game follows the timeline of the original stories, so you'll get to visit several notable locations, while there's also an extensive lineup of items and weapons to craft and which should help you out of some tricky situations. On paper at least, this sounds like a cracking little puzzle adventure. However, in practice, it proves to be a little less than a must play. The essential gameplay is there, and for fans of the Walking Dead, there's sure to be much fun to be had here, thanks to the lovely pixel-art style and the puzzle-tastic gameplay. The real problem however, is that there just isn't enough content for the price and most players are likely to waltz through the five locations in no time at all. Worth it for diehard Walking Dead junkies, but everyone else is better off with the original.
