No nonsense F1 racer, with no superfluous extras

The year is 88 and the racing scene is pretty packed with games, but, still, the arcades dominate this type of genre, as they can conjure more power, more integrated chips per board and this more bells and whistles, more interesting controls, more of everything! But then again, on your own PC where DOS rules, you don't have to lose a quarter each time you get defeated, and also, you can do it from the comfort of your own home, and many had given up on graphical and gameplay additions just so they could stay at home and mind their own business, playing as much or as little as it suited them. And, frankly, Ferrari Formula One offered just the essentials to have a nice overall experience. The game offered you the possibility to choose the vehicle you wanted to play from, it also offered you a neat assortment of tracks and it offered you a graphical style that while not mind blowing was more than okay for all intents and purposes. Thus, if you want to take a trip back in that 88 environment, you might want to try Ferrari Formula One too, otherwise a much more recent game, Formula 1 (Psygnosis, 1996) will be much more suitable for you, exceeding what the arcades of the late 80s and 90s could do by a lot!
