It's Minesweeper! For DOS!

Bearing more than a passing resemblance to one of the most played games in the world, Minesweeper, Flagger makes for an entertaining little diversion that is perfect for time wasting when the boss isn't looking. If you have played Minesweeper (and let's face it, who hasn't?) you'll know what to expect here as it is pretty similar with only a few minor differences to distinguish the two. The interface is almost identical to Minesweeper as is the goal of the game, which is to investigate a set of tiles in search of mines. You click on a cell to reveal if a mine is present. If there's nothing there then you are informed how many surround that cell, but if there is one, well it's game over. If there are no mines adjacent then the cell remains blank but if there are some present then it's now your job to deduce which cells they are in so you proceed with your task. That's basically it for the game, with the only real differences between this and its Windows brother being very minor and hardly worth bothering mentioning. The visuals are slightly more appealing here than in Minesweeper with a bit of colour to liven things up but no one really plays this sort of thing for the graphics so there's still nothing to get excited about. The interface is simple and easy to use, requiring merely a left or right click to reveal a cell or to place a flag to help your memory. The whole thing is played out against a time limit which helps to pile on the tension so if you're looking for a DOS-based take on Minesweeper this is a fine effort.
