Major League Baseball Players Association licensed game
The big idea behind this game is that it is branded by a great player at the time, Frank Thomas, and that, also, the teams, the statistics on which the players are based and the graphical likeness of the players is all taken from the 95 major league players and team. Therefore, if you wanted to sink some time in a simulation that is accurate and represents well enough that era of baseball play, you now have a chance to do it. The game manages to simulate pitching, batting and other elements of the game as accurately as it can. Sure, the controls are more arcade like, but given that all the options go back to the reading of the stats, which are accurate depictions of the players statistics, you will find that there is an inner equilibrium to the game, which, the developers say, will make the action feel very similar to that of the original competition. The concept of batting is produced through a number of options that tackle the high, medium and low direction, plus, pitching has the same kind of arrangement. Defense and pitching are the strong points of the game and you'll be hard pressed to find a more accurate depiction of these actions in other games. Graphically the game is pretty good looking, and it sure is one of the better baseball simulators out there, certainly one of the better ones from the era.
