Galapagos: Mendel Escape

Simulation 1997 Windows Electronic Arts Life simulation

Aid the little, smart spider!

Very original premise this game has: it's like an inverse puzzle, where you're the developer and the AI the player. So, here' the deal, this game world is inhabited by a spider, a spider that likes to be challenged and played with. However, not in the kind of way you'd interact with, say, one of the creatures in Creatures, nope, more like in the style of a more complex Sims game. So, the idea is the following. You will be able to manipulate the world around your spider, but won't be able to interact with it directly. Thus, you'll kind of get to learn how the spider behaves and then try to build around his natural way of thinking/behavior. Therefore, Galapagos: Mendel Escape is a very enticing game, an inversed puzzler that asks you to be doubly inventive and creative. Also, the sense of wonder abounds in this game, as the little spider whose life you manage can at times really surprise you! Yeah, it's a bit of a slow game, but it will put a smile on your face. Plus, graphically, it's an alright creation Tronesque creation, which is quite rare in the realm of video gaming.
