Plays The Same

Heroes of Might and Magic 4 is a turn based strategy game developed by Gus Smedstad through New World Computing, who also developed the Might and Magic series. It's the sequel to Heroes of Might and Magic 3 and the final game in the series to be developed by New World Computing. Even though this is a sequel, it's an improvement over the previous game, but it mostly plays the same. The story of Heroes of Might and Magic IV unfolds primarily through the game's six campaigns, each of which establishes how the major kingdoms of one of Axeoth's continents were forged in the wake of the Reckoning, and the arrival of the Enrothian refugees on Axeoth. Each of the campaigns centers on a faction leader, and tells the story of how that leader came to prominence. Unlike Heroes of Might and Magic III, all of the six campaigns are accessible from the beginning, and each unfolds as a stand-alone tale. In terms of gameplay, there's not much to say other than it feels and plays the same as its prequel. Even the combat is the same. The graphics and sounds, on the other hand, are beautiful. Overall, Heroes of Might and Magic is a great game in the series, with improved graphics and sound, but with the same familiar gameplay which doesn't ruin the experience at all. If you ever happen to stumble upon a copy, go ahead and buy it!
