Agent 47 is back

The Hitman series is a pretty extensive one that offers some intense and very dramatic storylines coupled with top notch stealth gameplay. This fifth offering in the main franchise is another one fine one is well worth picking up. It does follow on from the previous game, Blood Money, in terms of storyline so you might want to check that out first before coming here, but if you do, you're in for a good time. The plot is pretty complex, finding a rogue agent setting up an operation to expose the workings of our anti-hero's organization so it falls to Agent 47 to take out the agent before it's too late. However, this is just the start of a wider conspiracy and things soon get even more complicated. The core gameplay is similar to previous games, revolving around infiltrating various locations, taking out bad guys as stealthily as possible and assassinating your marks. Missions are now connected, while also still featuring primary and secondary objectives, optional upgrades, and many weapons and gadgets. For the most part, this is an excellent game if you're into stealth offerings. It might not evolve the series all that much, and indeed feels a bit like a step back in certain regards, but most of what's here is well implemented and very enjoyable. The story is a cracker, featuring lots of twists and turns, while the core gameplay is compelling and entertaining. The missions are very linear in design, which is a tad disappointing, but the other elements make up for this, and result in a very good game.
