Rico is back!
The Just Cause series is known for offering action fans heaps of over-the-top thrills and spills in an open-world environment and this second installment certainly delivers on that front. It's not an overly deep or complex game but it sure is fun and if that's what you're looking for, you should seriously consider taking a look here. The game finds series hero Rico Rodriguez heading to an island paradise in search of a former CIA colleague who has vanished with $2 million of the Agency's money. Rico must infiltrate the local gangsters in search of the traitor, while also upsetting the status quo and liberating the island. What follows is a third-person open-world adventure where you can freely explore a massive island, causing chaos and generally having a blast. The game is a little like Far Cry 3 in that there are loads of vehicles and weapons to try out alongside plenty of different activities like races and so on. You've also got a cool parachute and grappling hook which helps you get around and which can be used in combat. If you're looking for a good time with no pretension to anything else, then Just Cause 2 is a great bet. There's loads of stuff to blow up and shoot and exploring the island is a genuinely fun proposition, thanks to the range of vehicles. The different activities and missions are also entertaining and there's always something to keep you busy, while the visuals are quite lush, with lots of nice details to appreciate. When you throw in the solid controls and decent storyline, you're left with a fine action romp.
