Fun only with friends

Kaiser is a German historical empire management videogame released in 1991 by Softgold Computerspiele. Before we could experience of being a ruler of a great nation in Civilization which came out later than Kaiser, here we enjoyed the experience of being the emperor, or Kaiser, of the medieval Germany. While not as great as the latter, the game still had to offer some fun...if you weren't playing alone! That's right, the single-player experience of the game is a boring one, because the game lacks actual AI. The multiplayer experience of the game is much more enjoyable and you could spend quite some time with your friends. The game has no set story, it's all about the player making his way to become emperor and it's up to him how does he want to achieve this. The graphics are quite great and the sound department made a great job. However, if you're not familiar with the German language, you would have a bit of trouble playing this game, because it is in German. However, repeated playthroughs will make you forget about that issue. In conclusion, while it is not a perfect empire-management game, Kaiser is a fun game, but it's only worth your time if you have friends who you could play with. If you want to play the game for the single-player experience then you should look for another game!
