Lord of the Rings 2 - Two Towers

RPG 1991 Dos Dosbox Interplay Isometric Fantasy

A top down RPG continuing the adventures of the fellowship

Tolkien's books, especially The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings series have inspired loads of off-shoot products and other merchandise as well as video games. The original The Hobbit released for the ZX Spectrum was a delightful text adventure back in the day, but later on other production companies joined the quest for bringing these stories on our consoles and PCs. Interplay, known for loads of awesome RPGs amongst which Wasteland and Baldur's Gate who changed the limits of what an RPG could accomplish, took on the task of bringing Tolkien's stories to life in the form of games, and this took the form of a series of good, though not exceptional RPGs, the J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, Vol. I and this RPG here, volume II of the series. Within the game you will play as Frodo Baggins and later on, following the course of the story, you will branch out playing with other characters as well, Samwise Gamgee, Peregrin Took, etc. Depending on whom you're playing with, your abilities will be different, so expect quite a bit of variety there. Overall, this second installment in the series is an ok game, great for fans of top down RPGs and also for those that loved the books or the movies.
