North and South is a strategy game which need a lot of patience to play and master it. It is like an older version of the Total War series, but it's a bit different. The game is basically a simulation of the civil war that ocured in the USA. For any of you who is American and feel like I'm making mistakes about some facts, I do apologize because I'm not from the place and haven't learned much about it. At first, I thought that this game is a basic historical RTS game. Soon, I found out that there is some humor in the game as well, such as parodies of national anthems, which are accessible when the player selects one of the different languages supported by the game. The game takes a simplified boards interface(one of the most simplified I have ever seen in a game) and feature a strategic map of the USA, on which you can move your units around. The map is separated into territories and states and each states houses a train station and a fort, preventing the overtaking of states to be too easy, offering the player a little bit of a challenge. There is an option on the main menu where the player can turn off in-game missions and battles to make it purely like a board game. In my opinion, North & South is quite an enjoyable game, even though I'm not a fan of these kind of gameplay. While the graphics aren't too impressive, they're acceptable, the sound may get a bit loud to annoying. Overall, North & South isn't a bad game. It's a fun and enjoyable experience, with lots of humorous elements, but unless you're a fan of these kind of gameplay, you might the game a little bit annoying or even hard.
