See the world through different eyes
An action RPG in the same vein as the similar Game of Thrones from the same developer, this is an interesting attempt at doing something bold, and although it doesn't all quite work, it still stands as a fairly entertaining adventure. In stark contrast to most fantasy RPGs, you play an elite soldier in the orc army, with your race finding themselves under attack by both the goblins and the humans, who are teaming up with the dwarves and elves. It's your mission to assassinate the human Emperor, and during the course of your quest, you'll team up with your sworn enemy, a goblin, with the story standing as an interesting alternative to the usual "orcs are evil" tale. The gameplay is a largely action-oriented RPG, with heaps of real-time combat, but which uses a similar system to GoT, whereby time slows down so you can queue up commands and actions which are then carried out when the game is unpaused. As you'll be in control of two characters, you'll have to make use of their individual skills, where there are the usual RPG trappings of quests, loot, gearing up and so on. Of Orcs and Men certainly scores a few points for the sheer unusualness of its storyline and it makes a refreshing change to see things through the eyes of the "bad guys". However, while the gameplay also displays some interesting ideas and mechanics, it doesn't quite execute them perfectly, so everything is not quite as smooth or enjoyable as it should have been. It's a shame really, as with just of bit of tinkering, this could have been a great game instead of just an average one.
