On my command, let rip!

Similar to the likes of M1 Tank Platoon and Tank Commander, this is a detailed but accessible look at what's it's like to command an armored fist of fury. Whether you're a dedicated sim fan or someone out for an experience which bridges the divide between the pure arcade entertainment of Battlezone and the more realistic games, this makes for a fine choice. As you might expect from the title, this is set in World War II and gives you a bunch of options for taking the fight to the enemy. You can choose to fight through forty standalone missions, choosing from the US, German, Russian or British forces, or select one of six campaigns focused around the Germans and Russians, with three each. There are more than twenty tanks to try out from each of the four factions, along with nearly thirty support vehicles to encounter, and to top it all off, there's a fairly intuitive and enjoyable scenario editor to play around with when you've finished playing through everything else. Panzer Commander really does succeed in pretty much every aspect. As soon as you fire it up, you'll see there's plenty to keep you busy for some time, with a large number of scenarios, plenty of extensive campaigns and the scenario editor for when you're feeling creative. Throw into that mix the huge range of vehicles to drive, which are all unique and feel very authentic, and you've got even more appeal. The missions themselves are enjoyable to play and varied, while the game's visuals, sound and controls are all top notch. Give it a go and you won't be disappointed.
