The classic game now with better graphics

Pirates! Gold is a re-release of this epic game from 1987, only with improved graphics and compatibility with Windows 3.1 DOS, Macintosh, and Sega Genesis. The PC versions features a MIDI score and mouse support. There is a lot of reasons why to re-release this game, firstly because the game was groundbreaking back in the eighties thanks to the now eponymous Sid Meier, also responsible for the Civilization series, for one. Everybody fell in love with the concept of either being a pirate or battling one in an open world, with practically no limits. The game's complexity and detail was, and still is, fascinating. The game tests a wide range of skills: hand-eye coordination during the fencing sections, tactical ability during the land and sea combat phases, and strategic thinking, for everything from choosing a wife to deciding when to divide up the plunder. It was revolutionary and it was fantastic, and several other enhanced versions have been released to this day, for compatibility with today's technology. This game is truly a classic.

A highlight of my video gaming childhood

Pirates! Gold is most certainly a highlight of my video gaming childhood. It offers freedom in its gameplay that few games offered at the time. Definitely give it a go... you will not stop playing! There were alot of games that became addicting when I was young but this one truly left lasting memories. I'm still thinking about the game in my free time 17 years later.
