A wonderful remake of Pitfall

Pitfall II: The Lost Caverns is a very ahead of it's time side scrolling platform game. This is a modern day remake of the 1980's Activision game. The game also could be considered in the action/adventure genre due to it's themes that appear to me, to closely resemble the Indiana Jones movies. The game is an epic for it's time, with many never-seen-before features in the game. The game came with a massive music library compared to most other similar games, with the music even changing to highlight suspenseful moments. The game was originally released for the Atari 2600 console, but other ports have been made for home various gaming and computer consoles including the Atari 5200, PC, Colecovision and Apple computers. The main character in the game is known as "Pitfall Harry". I have often heard of Pitfall II being mentioned by reviewers and critics as "one of the best Atari 2600 games of all time". It is truly an enjoyable game, the levels are very large to explore, as well as the terrain changes. Pitfall Harry can go swimming and the water actually moves with waves. It is all very advanced for an Atari game and the graphics were groundbreaking at the time of release. An all around enjoyable game, that still stands up to the modern day era of gaming and the game showcases the true potential of a well programmed game from it's era. Activision really hit the spot with this game, by improving on the Pitfall series and turning the game into a series that nearly continues to this day. Out of all the Pitfall games released by Activision, this is the one game that definitely stands out as being above the rest. The series continued on with more Pitfall games but never achieved the cult popularity that Pitfall II: Lost Cavers achieved , that is why it is still being created for modern computer systems by avid gamer fans.
