Get on your puzzling boots
The original Puzzle Agent was a lovely bit of puzzle fun that played out like the Professor Layton series and which had almost as much charm. This sequel is just as enjoyable and if you are looking for a delightfully enjoyable experience to test your brain power, then this is a great bet. This entry is a little darker and creepier than the original but retains its sense of humor and brings in even more clever puzzling to keep you challenged. There's an interesting story here, which finds you once more in control of FBI agent Nelson Tethers and which requires you to solve a baffling case involving a missing eraser factory foreman, a whispering madness which is creeping from person to person and the appearance of some rather unsettling creatures. The gameplay is similar to the previous game and sees you exploring a series of environments, talking to people in the manner of a point-and-click adventure, and then solving puzzles, but which are more self contained than the genre's typical environment- or inventory-based head scratchers. Puzzle Agent 2 really is quite a little delight. It scores a lot of points with its story which is deliciously dark and twisted, but without going overboard, and which is backed up by some nicely stylish visuals, which really help to bring the gameworld to life. The puzzles too are as clever and inventive as you could hope for, with some genuinely inventive ones which are enjoyable and satisfying to solve. There's also a good variety of them, so overall for a good bit of puzzling fun, you can't go wrong here.
