The best game for PC, EVER!

Doom may have defined everything we know about First person Shooters, but Quake perfected it in every way it could. in 1996, games were starting to enter the 3D realm, and ID knew exactly what they had to do. The game features amazing graphics (I think the choppiness of the animations make it even more scary), Fast, smooth, and deep gameplay, music and sound from Trent Reznor of the Nine Inch Nails...The levels are diverse, thanks to many level designers with their own styles and Ideas, including American McGee (also helped with doom, and made a dark version of Alice in Wonderland). If your not careful, the game will hand you your ass, that's if it's still in one peice. That's what I like in a game, Toughness.

Fantastic Atmosphere, challenge only found with Duke Nukem 3d

Most argue that this game really isn't quite as good as Doom, well I would argue that those who say that are wrong, and also shouldn't associate Quake with Doom as they are two completely different series. Here's why, 1. Quake has a much darker atmosphere, and relies mostly upon the player's ability to look before you leap, when Doom can be beaten just by constantly walking, and has no puzzle areas, unless you call needing to find a key, a puzzle, or running to a secret area, a puzzle, as those are the most difficult things you will do in Doom. 2. Doom has 4 game types, when Quake gives you the same 4, but one is hidden due to starting in a three-way hallway. Doom's enemies may seen tougher, but Quake has enemies which are resistant to certain weapons. 3. Quake's game win conditions are to find all 4 runes, which finding the 4th is especially tricky since the zone entrance is usually hidden, and when you find them all, then you have to go to a fifth area, where even if you fill all monsters you must time it right and go through the slipgate at the right time, it is here that you can die many many times, it took me to die about twenty six times due to the fact that it doesn't tell you what to do, it's just this mound of white flesh, and a gray spiky ball hovering around the level, mostly over lava, where in Doom you just have to kill all monsters and shoot as much as you can into the demon wall's forehead, or the hole in it's forehead. Quake has many things, challenge, atmosphere, puzzles, and lots of enemies to face, when Doom has lots of enemeis to face, and no challenge (no Nightmare doesn't count as challenge, it sets the game to be unfair on purpose, but that's probly the same with Quake). Take it from me, a nostalgic gamer who cares more about what a game can do, other than look pretty. I give it 4 Stars, Cause that's what it is. Cool.

Like Doom, but not so good

I liked Quake but to be honest not as much as Doom 2. The game is nice but it's evidently a clone and miss of originality. For sure it add many improvements and a different context, new weapons and a new history. However I stick with Doom series that is the real FPS. In any case it's still a worth downloading and play.

Fantastic atmosfere but poor graphics

The best game ever. Fantastic atmosfere. Poor graphics (for todays standard but good enough). Many traps, lots of monsters to frag and very very frightening sound effects. Finally a fearly good set of weapons would assist you at your endeavour. Play it late at night, with the lights out and a good set of speakers...it would QUAKE your world!

Original cd/dvd version
If you did not find any online digital version to download or it's not working properly, you have the chance to buy Quake from Amazon store and play it again.
