Infamy, infamy, they've got it in for me!
A sort of a cross between Leisure Suit Larry
and Quest for Glory
, this is a cracking old-school adventure that is just brimming with personality and good vibes. The game is a role-playing adventure where you take on the role of a scoundrel who starts things out on the run from the aftermath of one of his latest scams. However, while hiding out, he finds himself inadvertently caught up in a power struggle for control of the kingdom. What follows is a wonderful story-driven adventure that allows you to choose your own path through the game and which is absolutely jam packed with memorable characters and situation to enjoy. The gameplay itself is a mixture of exploration, puzzle solving, conversation trees and even some light combat, with multiple character classes to choose from and multiple solutions to many of the puzzles. The whole thing is told with good humor and a light touch, so this is one game which doesn't take itself too seriously. The writing is definitely a bit more grown up than many games, but it's far from being offensive and should't cause anyone but the most easily upset gamer any trouble. For the most part, Quest for Infamy is a wonderful adventure. It's got a cracking story that will keep you entertained with its characters and sharp dialogue. The puzzles are pretty interesting too, with their open ended nature adding some appeal, while the conversations and combat add in some more variety. Throw in some nicely done visuals and you have a nice all round adventure.
