Ah, yes. Sierra is one popular company that brought us such classic adventure games, like the King's Quest
series and the Leisure Suit Larry
series as well, just to name a few. There are some other games made by Sierra, some good some bad, but I will not mention them. But did Sierra ever make horror themed games? Well, the only horror game I can think about and have ever played it Shivers 2: Harvest of Souls. When I first saw the title, I have thought of all the bizzare things that can happen in this game. Well, I wasn't disappointed, but the game didn't have the charm like other such games, like Phantasmagoria
, had. But it's still a good game and I have never had moments when I started hating it. The story starts at a hotel, with a not very friendly clerk over who gives you a message and the key to your room and also wants you out first thing in the morning. From here, the game is non-linear because you have the liberty to explore the town at your leisure. THe gameplay is just a point-and-click game, from a first person perspective. While the graphics aren't that good, the voice acting is a bit cheasy and sometimes feels delayed. Not even the subtitles are well synched. Overall, Shivers 2 is a good game, but nothing special from other horror adventure games.
