You can't go home

Another offering from Big Fish Games, this is a cracking little first-person point-and-click adventure that is well worth picking up, with this Collector's Edition being by far the best way to try it. This one is part of a series which also includes Livingston and Galdor's Bluff but there's no need to have played the others in order to enjoy this. The story has a fairly familiar setup, with the player in control of Vera Hargrove, who left the strange town of Pilgrim's Hook with her brother when they were very young. However, your brother has now contacted you saying that he returned home, with his strange tone leading you to return in order to rescue him. What follows is traditional genre entry, which mixes inventory-based puzzling with hidden objects sections. This edition includes a few nice extras, such as an integrated strategy guide, a bonus chapter, achievements, concept art, a digital journal, and an extra minigame, all of which makes this an excellent package. For anyone who loves this style of game, this is going to be an absolute treat. It's got the typical high production values of most games from Big Fish, with lush visuals that are wonderfully atmospheric and detailed and which really suck you in. The story too is a compelling one, weaving an intriguing and very spooky tale around its classic setup, with shades of HP Lovecraft to be found within its depths. The puzzles are well-done too, being perfectly blended into the gameplay while also being challenging but never unfair. All in all, a wonderful little game.
