Get your puzzle hat on
With its mix of Mario-style platforming
and Tetris-style puzzling
, this is a pretty fun and very hectic little game that is perfect for high score chasers. It does get a little repetitive and lacks that hypnotic magic of the best of the genre, but it remains a fun little time-waster that is likely to eat more of your time than you expect. The game basically requires you to avoid falling blocks and hazards like spikes which are below you, and then destroy the fallen blocks in order to power up. Things start out simply enough but the pace soon gets pretty mad and you'll be bouncing around the screen like a mad thing in no time. There's no real point to any of it other than to gain as many points as possible, but there are several different characters to play as, each with their own unique abilities which help to keep your interest. Further adding to the appeal is a local multi-player mode, which is probably the best way to play so be sure to round up a friend if you do pick this up. When you first start playing this, it doesn't seem all that interesting, but after just a few minutes you'll soon be hooked and then you'll suddenly realize that you've been playing for far longer than you expected or is good for you. The various gameplay mechanics are implemented cleanly and simply, and the game really is a breeze to get into, although it's very difficult to get those high scores. It is addictive though, thanks to the fast paced and sheer sense of fun, so when you add in the lovely retro-style visuals, you're left with a solid bit of entertainment.
