Super Sango Fighter

Arcade 1993 Dos Dosbox Computer & Entertainment Oriental

Blocky graphics but sufficiently intricate fighter game

I generally tend to associate a lack of animation frames and consequently that blockiness of movement, in fighter games' characters, with an overall lack of gameplay depth in that particular game. Too many times a developer that couldn't be arsed to work the graphics of the game is so much less likely to have spent that time invested in fighting schemes that are at least decent. Well, most of the time, and as it shows, reading a book by cover only can be misleading. Nope, Super Sango Fighter is actually pretty hefty a fighter, oldschool and a bit underpowered but nonetheless an actual fully featured and intense game. As they say, the proof is in the pudding, and the, well, pudding (hehe) is a game that actually is deep enough, offering you enough variations and tactical approaches to be worth a go. Now, as I said, this is your early console game that takes the cue from pure breed arcade games, so don't expect it to be as incisive as the greatest of them all, but nonetheless it is worthy of an install. Also, it's pretty detailed and colorful, and that makes it overall better than the sum of its parts.
