If the medical-themed fun and games of things like Theme Hospital
are up your alley, then this remake of a title which was originally made for Global Game Jam might just be of interest to you. It's far from perfect and is a pretty specialized game but its dark humor and sense of originality are just enough to carry it through. It's not very realistic though and if you are looking for a more believable look into the life of surgeons, then try Virtual Surgeon
instead. Here, you find yourself in the scrubs of Nigel Burke, a would-be surgeon who is just starting on his new career. In highly absurd fashion, you'll get to perform a wide range of procedures on unwitting patients, including double kidney and brain transplants. You're not even confined to the relative safety of the operating theater though and you may find yourself in the back of a speeding ambulance as you try to crack someone's ribs open. This enhanced version of the original Game Jam production also includes the opportunity to perform an alien autopsy! For sheer outrageous laughs, then this is hard to beat. It certainly doesn't take itself too seriously, with its cartoon-like visuals and gloriously dark sense of humor popping up at every turn. One thing which might divide players is the controls, which are purposefully awkward and very clumsy, making performing procedures a highly challenging proposition. However, if you can prepare yourself for this fact, and don't expect perfection then you should enjoy yourself here.
