With an art style reminiscent of Trine 2 and some truly inventive puzzles, The Swapper is a perfect treat for anyone into enigmatic head scratchers. It's also got a highly intriguing storyline and clocks in at a bit longer than many similar indie games, making it a nice little treat for any puzzle fan. You're thrown into the far future and must embark on a mysterious adventure into a truly alien world that will see you exploring the space station around you and the nature of your own being. To help you in your quest, you have a rather handy device which is able to clone you, with your clone then coming under your own control, so you can send it out on whatever quest or puzzle you need to complete. It's here in the puzzles that the game really comes to life, and the way it uses this unique cloning mechanic is truly inventive, resulting in some wonderfully surprising puzzles that will really have you scratching your head. They're rarely frustrating though, thanks to the game's internal logic, but they're never less than extremely satisfying to solve. A special mention must go to the visuals, which are stunningly realized, with beautiful use of color and excellent design work that really makes you feel like you're exploring an alien world. The story is quite enigmatic but thought-provoking and should keep you entertained to the end, while the controls are just as tight and responsive as they should be. All in all, this is a classic platform/puzzle adventure that brings to mind the equally superb Another World and which should be part of any genre fan's collection.
