Puzzle me do!
The sequel to the equally fantastic Blocks That Matter, this is a cracking little puzzler that also brings in elements of point-and-click games to superb effect. The gameplay mechanics are clever and inventive and the setting utterly charming, so if you like using your brain then this is a game for you. It takes loose inspiration from Fantastic Voyage and finds you in control of a microscopic robot which is sent inside his bigger brother in order to sort out any minor problems there might be. You have to guide little Psychobot through his brother's cogs and wheels, swallowing blocks of matter then spitting them out to fix things, while also learning how various elements like lasers and pipes work, figuring out how to alter the chemical properties of slime and grabbing memory shards along the way. As is usual in this sort of thing, it's all basically about solving the puzzles by figuring out how to use the various elements then finding your way to the exit and moving on to the next one. Fortunately, while the base idea is familiar, the execution is anything but. The puzzles on display here are superbly well designed, with some wonderfully inventive little head scratchers that are logical, clever and extremely satisfying to solve. The many gameplay mechanics are introduced well, with no tedious backtracking once you've learned a specific skill, while the overall difficulty curve is near perfect. Throw in some simple and intuitive controls and a charming visual style, and you have all the makings of a classic puzzler.
