Murky storytelling, yet alright interactivity
Twilight Zone is a parser heavy adventure game, one that wants to tell a cool story filled with mystery and the uncanny. As far as wording goes, it's a fairly well written game, also helped by a well tinkered parser. As far as the additional graphics goes, it's not as good a match. Because the atmosphere of the writing is gloomy and mysterious, while the graphics are too colorful and, unfortunately, unintentionally cheery. It's a gap that is hard to look past, though the core story, as I said would merit a playthrough. Also, the puzzles and interactivity, while also being easier than in most parser games, is also quite interesting. The puzzles are within the quality standards of a game that I'd qualify as not too original, but then again, as long as it works and as long as you don't expect too much out of it, you'll get what you were bargaining for. So, is it based on the TV series Twilight Zone? Only through the material covered, else less so. Also, if you like mysterious and uncanny games, see Scratches too, a contained yet highly inspired adventure game.
