Everyday I`m hovering! Hovering, hovering!
Who said that games couldn't be 3D in the 80s?! Well, whoever said that were not exactly right but not exactly mistaken either! Because, as this game here demonstrates, Virus is a game about a small craft, a sort of low flying craft, that has to maintain altitude over this land made of big chunks of color. You only see a square of land right under your ship! You also see your shadow, blocky as it might be, but that is mostly all! Anything more and probably the game would have needed a lot more processing juice (!) which, at the time was unavailable! But, this creates an eerie and totally engaging kind of atmosphere, the kind that you're rarely ever going to find in games today, unless they try to capture that oldschool look and feel. But if you're a purist, this is the game to go for, where the actual game's look is dictated by limitations rather than decided by some hipster character! Anyway, see also Prowler for a game as old as this one, much less experimental graphically
, but yet another cool arcader that will entertain you just as much. Power to the Virus, though, power to it!
