Standard Frogger clone
Vleaper falls firmly into the same category as games like Cruel World, Acter World and DStroy, being as it is a clone of a much better known release, which in this case is the classic Frogger. Sometimes, clones can prove worthy of playing if they add in some new feature or update the gameplay or graphics in some original or stylish manner, but unfortunately Vleaper possesses little in the way of imagination or innovation and is simply content with being an almost exact copy. If you're unfamiliar with the concept of the original, you are simply required to move your little frog avatar through a series of obstacles in order to reach the safety of your pond. Levels are single screens with your frog moving vertically through obstacles like fast moving cars, turtles, logs and a particularly vicious crocodile before reaching the top of the screen where he can finally take a well-earned break. That's pretty much all there is to the game really and although the concept is simple, the original Frogger is an acknowledged classic with gameplay that has stood the test of time. As a clone then, Vleaper does a decent enough job of replicating its inspiration and copies it pretty much identically, with similarly simplistic visuals and sounds which are charming enough in that unique old-school fashion but which many gamers will find too crude for their tastes. The gameplay too is the same and proves addictive enough if you are after some retro thrills and love racking up those high scores. However, as with any clone, it's always hard to recommend the copy, so if you're curious, seek out the original Frogger.
