Do you want to live forever!?
This is an expansion pack for the classic real-time strategy game based on Games Workshop's legendary Warhammer 40K franchise, Dawn of War. It's a pretty fine example of how to do an expansion pack as it gives you a decent amount of content which is fundamentally different from the base game while building on the foundations laid down by the original. The essential gameplay is the same as ever, this being an action-oriented RTS which sees you battling through a series of intense missions while in control of a variety of units lifted straight from the tabletop wargame. The additions here include an entirely new race, the Imperial Guard, which is effectively the human military who come armed with numbers and a lot of tanks and firepower on their side, as well as two all-new single-player campaigns to play through. There are also a bunch of multiplayer maps to try out, if you can still find people to play against, alongside a bunch of tweaks and enhancements that improve the overall experience. If you are still playing Dawn of War and are looking for a way to expand its lifespan even more, then this is a superb choice. It's got everything you could want for in an expansion pack, with two pretty hefty and challenging campaigns to keep you busy for some time. The addition of the Imperial Guard is also a good one as this brings one of the most popular factions into the digital world and makes for an interesting tactical challenge. The visuals are still fine and the gameplay genuinely exciting and enjoyable so for Warhammer fans this is a bit of a no-brainer.
