Take to the skies
Wings of Prey isn't exactly a complex or deep flight sim, like Falcon or SU-27 Flanker but if you're looking for an experience more akin to the classic Wings, then this is a solid bet. It's more of an arcade flight sim, so don't expect full-on realism but it does offer some lovely visuals and enough varied missions to keep you flying for some time. The game is based around the large-scale air and ground battles of World War II and gives players the chance to fly fighters, battle planes and bombers in some of the most famous battles of the time. There are six theaters of war to try your skills in, including the Battle of Britain, Stalingrad and Ardennes, with more than forty planes to fly as well as over fifty missions to take part in. Planes include the likes of the Spitfire, Mustang and Messerschmidt, while there's a pretty realistic damage system which helps up the realism stakes. As long as you don't go in expecting a full fligh sim experience, then you should have a great time with Wings of Prey. You can tweak the settings to make it more or less realistic, but for the most part this is more like an arcade sim than anything else. The missions are generally pretty decent, although could have been better, with a decent level of variety but with a few issues bringing them down. The action is fast, furious and intense and there is a real sense of being there, with an epic scale that further boosts the excitement. The graphics are top notch too so if you do just want a blast, then this is for you.
