More of a curiosity than anything else, this is a spinoff from the classic Worms series of comedy strategy games that stand as classics of the nineties. This one is certainly filled with the same kind of bonkers humor as the originals but it's not quite intense enough for true pinball fans, who would be better off with things like Pinball Dreams
. If you are interested in this one because you're a big Worms fan, consider picking it up as part of the Addiction Pinball
set which also includes a game based on the World Rally Fever
game. Anyway, Worms Pinball features a single table which, as you'd expect, is based around those crazy little guys, and which charges you with completing certain missions so that you can access different areas on the table. These areas are quite exotic and varied and include Hell, Arctic, Mars, and more. The rest of the gameplay is familiar stuff and is simply an excuse in high score chasing, with lots of bumpers and ramps and so on where you can grab points, while for the truly skilled, you can have up to six balls in play at any one time. Worms Pinball certainly plays a decent enough game of pinball and is worth a look if you're a curious fan. The lack of tables hurts the long term appeal a touch, although the addition of the missions and the various areas does help out in this respect. The humor is also very welcome while the physics and controls are both well enough handled. So, there's nothing really wrong with this and it's fine for passing a few minutes but other than this, it's easily missed.
