Puzzle 1986 Dos Mindscape Education Arts

Learn to compose and then write your own MIDI music

Although not branded a musical edutainment title, in its time it sure had a lot to offer for those looking to teach themselves reading music, as well as for those that were looking for a suite to note down musical ideas and even write music. So, how does it work? Well, you can put notes on the music sheet directly or, if you want to bother with it, you can interface it with a MIDI keyboard. I'm not sure if any keyboards that can communicate via MIDI will work, but the original documentation would lead me to think so. There are also a couple of compositions already included, so you can teach yourself to read these or, even, you could use the suite as a means to transport sheet music digitally. Sure, there are modern applications for this, indeed, but if you want to recreate some sort of oldschool vibe in digital, this application/game here has what it takes. A more hip lite application for music making and play can be MTV: Music Generator, which, in spite of having MTV all over it, has some capabilities, even if you couldn't confuse it for some actually serious music suite. And, while not about music, Vincent van Gogh: Straight from The Heart is an interactive CD that, by means of weird reference I was reminded of! Or maybe, it's just the fact that in my mind sheet music relates to classical music and classical music relates to classical painting. (Yes, I know, he was a postimpressionist, not a classic, but you know what I mean!)
