Let's go Mr. Shuggy!
Younger players should definitely consider checking out this fun puzzle adventure, which plays out a little like the equally enjoyable Unmechanical. This one is full of charming visuals, clever level design, and cunning puzzles, and makes for an all round cracking bit of entertainment. Shuggy, the game's hero, is a vampire, who has just inherited his grandfather's spooky old castle in Scotland, but when he visits it for the first time, he finds that it is haunted by all manner of nasty creatures. He must therefore venture forth to clear it out and turn it into a suitable home for himself, and if you've ever played Manic Miner, you might find yourself thinking of that classic when you fire this up. What follows is a 2D puzzle/platformer, where you explore a series of rooms, solving the puzzles as you go by making use of Shuggy's abilities, such as shrinking, flying, travelling in time and even turning into a zombie. The mansion itself is fairly open-ended, so you can explore and find multiple routes while there is also a two player offline mode, which requires some serious teamwork in order to succeed. Shuggy really is a great game for the family. It is challenging but without ever being frustrating, with some really clever puzzles and plenty of enjoyable platforming, while the variety of gameplay mechanics really gives the game a feeling of depth. The story is charming and which is told through some lovely comic book cutscenes, while the in-game graphics are equally as appealing. All in all, a top notch title.
