Wrath of Earth

Action 1995 Dos Dosbox SoftKey Multimedia Shooter Science Fiction

Mechanical suit themed FPS, lots of fun!

Wrath of Earth takes you right into the mission, which is a rescue one, initially, though, later on, the goals will diversify quite a bit. So, overall, the game is your shooter from inside an armor suit, a sort of proto Half Life, though it takes its cues a lot more from the Doom line of games, in terms of how it looks and how you interact with it. Of course it will begin to show its lack of polish and mostly, of diversity as you move on but that is not a problem, because you don't really play t for the surprises, but more for the next more or less target to shoot at. The occasional weapon swap for a different one is also interesting and the occasional boss is also interesting to keep you playing. What I was grateful for was the lack of intricate levels where you can lose track of where you are, just wonder around aimlessly. Nope, within this one you are never too far away from where the action takes place, so you can rest assured that you will be alright for the time being. At any rate, the formulaic levels: go from A to B, find ammunition, find the elevator, go to the next level are great for those that want to pass on some nonsense story and great for FPS lovers of classics. While Wrath of Earth might not be a classic, it sure is a good, well done game, a dependable time waster.
