Decent But Not As Fun
Aquanoid is an arcade video game for the DOS. The game is a run-of-the-mill clone of Arkanoid, the same game that took the ideas from the famous game BreakOut and brought new elements into play, Even though a clone, Aquanoid manages to be another good arcade game in the DOS library of game. The objective of the game is quite simple: you're a pad bouncing off a ball trying to break all the blocks that form a certain pattern. Much like in Arkanoid, breaking specific block would reveal some power-ups. While some of the power-ups are borrowed from Arkanoid, there are some original ones as well. The best is the barrier power-up, which will make a barrier appear at the bottom, bouncing the ball back up. The second best power-up, well, makes you win the level. The laser power, while helpful, is not as dumbed down because it shoots only one laser, instead of two like in Arkanoid. There are over 100 levels to play and at some points, you are given a password, so that you can use to continue playing from that point. Overall, Aquanoid is a decent arcade game, but it's not as fun as the classic Arkanoid.
