A Great Start For The Series
I have a question for you all. Can you name a great weapons-based fighting game that was released for the PC as well? If you can't then I can: Battle Arena Toshinden. This game is amazing and it's like a breath of fresh air from the other fighting games. It's fun, addicting and has spawned a couple of sequels. In the game, eight traveling fighters, brought together by a common destiny, now meet at the Battle Arena Toshinden: a fighting tournament hosted by a mysterious organization known only as the "Secret Society". The fighters join this tournament either for personal glory or fight for someone they love. This is pretty much the summary about the story we get in the intro video. There initially 8 characters to choose from, but there are unlockable characters as well, one of the being Earthworm Jim. In terms of gameplay, the game feels like either Tekken or Virtua Fighter. It is mostly based on fast reactions, but this doesn't ruin the game for those who have no experience in fighting games. The graphics are great and the soundtrack is beautiful. In conclusion, Battle Arena Toshinden is a great start for the Toshinden series. It's fun, entertaining and, of course, a great fighting game!
