One Great Game And Another Mediocre
Bubble Bobble featuring Rainbow Islands is a 2-in-1 game pack released by Taito. The pack contain two different games as mentioned in the title: Bubble Bobble and Rainbow Islands. The pack seems to be a decent one, but not a great one, because it offers a great game and a mediocre one. Bubble Bobble, without a doubt, is the great game, because it's both fun and challenging. It has a solid gameplay, an ending that motivates you to find a friend to play with in order to get the true ending and has one of the most recognizable music ever. It is a classic arcade game that even today gamers seem to enjoy playing it. Rainbow Islands, for me, is the quite opposite of Bubble Bobble, meaning that it isn't fun nor challenging. For those of you who found it enjoyable, good for you, but this is my opinion so please don't start hating me for expressing my opinion. Rainbow Islands is divided into many levels, but the main goal is to the up to the "goal" platform. This is done by shooting small rainbows in order to get up on higher platforms. You can even use the rainbows to kill different enemies, however this sounds stupid. The game feels to easy for me and I just didn't have the satisfaction to continue playing it. At least Bubble Bobble got harder as you progressed, but not Rainbow Islands. The graphics and sound in both games are quite great and impressive. But overall, unless you want to as a kid shooting rainbows, it's not worth getting this pack. You're better off getting a copy of Bubble Bobble instead. But, if you enjoy Rainbow Islands as well, then this pack may be for you.
